Abstract: An optimal model of cooling condition in billet continuous casting is setted up. It is suit for the making choice of optimal secondary cooling scheme and maxinum casting speed. This optimization problem is analyzed with the optimal control theory of separated parameter system. The model has been applied in production and it has been proved to be reasonable.
Abstract: A mathematical model of heat tratsfor of solidification process of continuous casting stainless steel slab is proposed. This model is aimed at fo-rcasting the metallurgical effects of operation processing parameters, such as temperature field of slab, the deepness of liquid pool, the thickness of solidification shell of stab, in continuous casting. A lot of functions is available with the model. It has been proved that this model can be used in helping operation of continuous casting, especially in studying and improving operation process of continuous casting.

Abstract: The measurement on an air-mist mozzle is reported and the results are compared with that on a water mozzle. Both results are in disagreement and show that heat transfer coefficient of strand not only depends on the water flux but depends on the spraying conditions, such as the droplet size, the droplet velocity, the air amount if using air-mist nozzle.
Abstract: The non-metallic inclusions during the casting process in ladle, tundish, mould and slab of super low head caster has been investigated using supher. print, X-ray, slime method and microscope. The quanlity, morphology composition and dimensional distribution of inclusions in slab as well as reoxy-dation, slag composition change etc are discussed.
Abstract: On the basis of the practical measurements of the thickness of shells in break out's strands, the solidification features of slabs in moulds have been investigated and the preventotive measures of break'out have been proposed.
Abstract: Hot ductility of steel has been investigated at low strain, rates. A simple model for strain rate effects on hot ductility is presented. The results show that creep should be connected with hot ductility at low strain rates.
Abstract: This article introduced the measurement and calculation methods of withdrawing moments in horizontal continuous caster, described the experimental results in different technological conditions. The results correspond with the calculation.
Abstract: The measurement of mould withdrawing resistance in horizontal continuous caster is introduced and withdrawing resistance under diffierent technological conditions is measured. It is described that the theoretical calculation of the withdrawing resistance of the mould. The result of calculation corresponds with experimental data.
Abstract: The 6200 kN billet flying shears, which is used for continuous casting in a steel plant, has been analyzed for the structure and working load according to the measurement of shear force parameter in the normal case of production. At same time, the temperature distribution on the cross-section of the billet and the average temperature of the cross-section which is sheared haso also been analyzed and calculated. On the basis of above, the methods of calculating maximum shear force and the average temperature with simple formula or diagram are put forward.
Abstract: The fluid flow phenomena in the bath of a rectangular tundish are studied in a water model, based on the dimensionless Fr and Re similarity criteria. The velocity vectors distribution diagrams are measured with LDA under two work conditions, which one is a bath with dam and weir and another is dam-free. The momentum source of flow motion in the bath of tundish is the downward stream. The velocity of liquid stream is recorded by a high speed camera. The stream injects the surrounding liquid and forms a liquid-liquid jet with spread angle 10°~12°. The jet strikes the bottom of the tundish and then becomes the spread out flow. The dam can cut off the bottom flow and converts the flow route. The residence time distribution curves of the flow in two tundishes with different work conditions are measured. The flow distances are changed, so the separation efficiency of particles from liquid is also changed owing to arrangement of different dams and weirs. A higher dam or two dams are more effective for delay the bottom flow. The optimum arrangement of dam and weir is discussed.
Abstract: The mathematical model of temperature drop of the molten steel in tundish is applied to calculate the regularity of temperature drop of molten steel in whole casting process, which provides basises for casting controlling. It can also calculate the temperature distribution of tundish lining, which provides the reference for tundish design.
