An analytic method for the synthesis of crank and rocker straight-line linkages in a special configuration was presented. With this method, it is convenient to synthesize the crank and rocker straight-line linkage, which coupler curve has a 4-point contact with its tangent (so called Ball's point). The formulae are derived and synthesis examples are illustrated.
