Morphology and Stoichiometry of Quasicrystal in Rapidly Solidified Al-Mn Alloy

摘要: 使用透射式電子顯微鏡(TEM)觀察了Al-12Mn和Al-10Mn-2Fe合金中準晶相的顯微形態,選區電子衍射(SAD)做結構分析,用TEM的能譜附件(EDXS)分析準晶相的化學成分。結果表明,典型的準晶相具有菊花狀形態,其當量組成非常接近Al4Mn,準晶相的形態表明它的形成長大機制可能介于非晶和晶體之間;而且,鐵的加入促進了合金中準晶相的形成。Abstract: Chrysanthemum-like morphology of quasicrystal with long-range orientational order and no translational symmetry in rapidly solidified Al-12 at%Mn and Al-10 at% Mn-2 at%Fe alloys, is observed by the Hitachi-800 TEM. This result shows that the growth of quasicrystal exhibits a mechanism in between those of noncrystalline and crystalline.The Hitachi-800 EDXS has shown that the stoichiometry of the Al-Mn quasicrystal is very close to Al4Mn6More-over, formation of quasicrystals in Al-Mn alloy is promorted by adding Feto the alloy.
